As a dance coach with Activ8, you'll help children and their families to become more active and enjoy a variety of physical activities. You will experience a range of sports and activities.

Coach Core’s vision is to drive social mobility through apprenticeships and sport, so that every young person can reach their true potential and inspire those around them. Since our launch in 2012, we have worked with over 150 of the biggest sports providers, youth clubs and charities in the country, supporting over 500 young people.

The Community Activator Coach role is the perfect opportunity to understand the role of sport and physical activity in the Community, and As a dance coach with Activ8, you'll help children and their families to become more active and enjoy a variety of physical activities. Your role may cover any type of sport, creative arts or physical activity as well as arts, crafts, health, nutrition and mental well-being.
Coaches must be aware and follow all policies and procedures especially those relating to health and safety and safeguarding.

Purpose of Post:
To be trained to do the same role as a dance coach and PE teacher
To contribute to a high-quality environment for children. This includes creating a warm, friendly and stimulating atmosphere in which the children can develop emotionally, socially and educationally through activities.

Key Areas:
To work with children in a variety of settings
To attend all training as set out in your training agreement
To complete all assignments set on time
To work as part of the team
To attend associated training deemed appropriate by the manager in consideration of your individual needs and wishes
To liaise regularly with your mentor and manager

What your apprenticeship includes:
-A mixture of face to face and online catch ups every 4 - 6 weeks to discuss feedback and progress
-A mixture of on and off the job training, including workshops and webinars
-Reviews every 12 weeks with your Line Manager and apprenticeship Trainer
-The chance to get Functional Skills in English and maths (if you don’t already have GCSE)

We particularly welcome applicants from female, black, minority, ethnic (BME) communities, disabled people and homosexual, bisexual and trans (LGBT) communities, as they are currently underrepresented within our workforce.

You will work towards your community activator coach l2 qualification over the course of 12-18 months






Desired Skills

This is an apprenticeship programme, designed to help you gain skills and experience ‘on the job.’ We aren’t looking for any previous coaching qualifications or experience but certain personal qualities and characteristics are a must (see below): • Enthusiasm towards all physical activity and sport • A passion for helping children to find an activity they enjoy • Understanding that children have their own individual needs and that we must always seek to be inclusive • Keen to develop your own skills as a coach and committed to the training process • A team player – you will need to work well with other staff, parents and school staff Successful applicants will be assisting and delivering dance and physical activity sessions in the community. Your sessions may be the highlight of their week- so you will need to be reliable, enthusiastic, energetic and committed!

Personal qualities

You must be enthusiastic about wanting to work within the sport and physical activity sector and be committed to inspiring others to be more physically active.

No prior coaching experience is required, but a willingness to learn, work hard and challenge yourself is essential.

Qualifications required

Missed out on getting your Maths and English GCSE’s? Don’t worry- you can still apply but you will need to complete Functional Skills Level 2 before you finish the apprenticeship. Our Learning Coaches can support you with this so don’t let this put you off!

Activ8 is also looking to offer successful apprentices the opportunity for full time work with us at the end of the programme. Previous apprentices with Activ8 have gone on to become team leaders and an area manager with us since completing their training

Community Activator Coach Apprenticeship L2 including Functional Skills in Maths and English

The ethos of Activ8 has always been to inspire children and adults to be active and lead a healthy lifestyle. Providing high quality childcare and classes.
Over the years we have worked with many schools in Sussex and 1000's of children and families.
Activ8 aim to inspire physical activity and mental well being for all children and their families through a variety of activities including, but not limited to:
PE lessons, breakfast and afterschool clubs, lunchtime clubs, holiday clubs, community events, family fitness, school workshops and much more.

At Activ8 you will be:

You will be on a Community Activator Coach apprenticeship, which allows you to get a qualification and get paid to do it! Your qualification will be delivered by Lifetime Training, but you will be part of the Coach Core family- giving you access to loads of extra perks, including kit, training from partners such as UK Coaching and the chance to coach at local/regional sporting events.
