Working as part of the Sport and Active Lifestyles team you will support young people to access volunteering opportunities, provide sessions during school holiday periods, and work with community groups to provide sport and physical activity that is suitable for a range of ages and abilities.
You will assist with the delivery of health and wellbeing sessions in schools, communities and workplaces that will broaden your skills and understanding of the sector.
Day to day your role will be varied and may include office based administration, school engagement, leisure centre coaching support, attending events and delivering sports sessions.

Desired Skills
It is essential to have strong digital skills, with confidence in using Microsoft 365 applications to organise, communicate, collaborate and deliver results effectively. Additionally, experience of the sport, leisure or physical activity sector, with an understanding of how sport and recreation can improve health, wellbeing and community outcomes is required. It is desirable to have knowledge of current sports development programmes and initiatives and experience of working with hard to reach communities. A knowledge of the barriers that prevent people from being active, including health inequalities, financial pressures, disability, cultural factors and rural isolation, and a passion for reducing these inequalities through targeted intervention is also advisable.

Qualifications required
Essential - GCSE Grade 4 or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent.
Desirable - National Governing Body Level 1 Sports Coaching Award or volunteer experience in a sport setting.

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, applicants will have developed the skills, knowledge and practical experience needed to progress into a career in sports development, community engagement or coaching, helping to make a positive impact on people's lives through sport and physical activity.
