This role is ideal for someone who wants to start a career in community health, physical activity or wellbeing and gain hands-on experience while completing an apprenticeship qualification.

As a Community Health & Wellbeing Apprentice, you will support local communities to lead healthier lifestyles in Peterborough.

To gain hands‑on experience in planning, delivering and evaluating physical activity and community engagement while completing a recognised apprenticeship in Sport and Health. The role supports the approach by assisting community‑led activities, gathering insight, supporting behaviour‑change initiatives, and helping deliver programmes shaped by local needs, particularly in communities experiencing the highest inequalities.

You roles and responsibilities will include;

Community engagement and activation
Learning and behaviour change
Insight gathering and local intelligence
Supporting volunteers and CYP pathways

This apprenticeship is part-funded and supported by Coach Core's charitable programme, creating employment opportunities for 16–24-year-olds who have faced barriers to education, employment, or career progression. We support young people with the potential to succeed who may have experienced financial disadvantage, additional learning needs, caring responsibilities or other personal or socio-economic challenges. No previous experience is required – we're looking for enthusiasm, potential and a willingness to learn. Coach Core provides additional support throughout the apprenticeship, while the employer is responsible for the final recruitment decision.

Qualifications required

No qualifications are required, however a full UK driving licence and access to a car is desirable, alongside knowledge of the Peterborough area.

Future prospects

This role will support the organisation's Place based working in Peterborough supporting delivery on the ground. Career progression would be into a Programme Delivery Officer role within the wider Programmes team should there be a suitable vacancy at the end of the apprenticeship.
