Retail businesses run on people who serve customers well and keep goods and services moving. This foundation apprenticeship is a first step into retail, supply and administration, for people starting out in shops, showrooms, trade counters and offices across sectors such as food, fashion, building and automotive. Apprentices build the skills, knowledge and behaviours the role depends on, coached one to one alongside their day job, and gain a recognised foundation that can open the way into further apprenticeships and a retail career.
Designed for retail and supply teams
For people starting out in a retail, supply or administration role, in shops, showrooms, trade counters or offices, or looking for their first step into a retail career.
Blended learning model
One-to-one coaching with a Lifetime coach, supported by face-to-face and remote delivery, alongside self-study through Aptem. The programme includes at least 187 hours of off-the-job learning, completed in paid working hours, so apprentices develop and apply new skills alongside their role.
Foundation apprenticeship assessment
Achievement is confirmed by an approved assessment organisation, through a knowledge test and a practical assessment. The practical assessment can take the form of an observation, a set task, a project, a presentation or a portfolio. The programme is graded Pass.
The programme builds the knowledge, skills and behaviours to support a retail business and its customers, across six areas.
