Woodlanders Pre-School - Ashburton
To assist the Head of Woodlanders and our room leaders in creating a safe and nurturing environment, we aim to help the children at Woodlanders learn and build their confidence and social skills. You'll have the chance to provide engaging and creative learning experiences while pursuing your Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification. We will allocate some study time during your paid hours, but we also encourage you to dedicate some of your personal time to complete the course in approximately 18 months. We are more than happy to work with your tutors when they need to visit you at our setting.

At Woodlanders, you will be working towards a Level 3 Early Years Educator Apprenticeship over the course of 15 months!

To support the Room Leaders and Head of Woodlanders in providing a safe and supportive environment that enables pre-school children to learn and grow in confidence and social awareness. To deliver high quality creative learning opportunities for children.

You'll have the chance to provide engaging and creative learning experiences while pursuing your Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification. Key tasks:

To help the Room Leaders, Head of Woodlanders and other staff as part of an effective team.
To support children’s development and contribute to the evaluation of the educational programme.
To demonstrate and promote understanding of all aspects of inclusion and to complete relevant
training where necessary.
To support children with their learning and development by thinking on your feet and planning in the
moment
To promote the welfare of children in all areas of Safeguarding.
To maintain confidentiality at all times regarding children, their families, staff and the business of
Woodlanders.
To prepare for, attend and contribute to inspections, evaluations and any other meetings as required.
To participate in training and development opportunities when needs have been identified, possibly
out of working hours.
To carry out day-to-day record keeping.
To work in partnership with the Head of Woodlanders, Committee members, parents/carers and other
professionals.
To contribute to shaping a stimulating and warm environment with clear boundaries for children and
adults.
To work within the policies and procedures of Woodlanders Pre-School.

This is an outline for the range of duties expected of an Early Years Educator to indicate the level of responsibility for the time being. It is not a comprehensive or exclusive list and duties may be varied from time to time which do not change the general character of the job or the level of responsibility entailed.

Desired Skills

Experience working within a busy early years environment

Personal qualities

Caring, welcoming, playful and friendly, with a genuine love and enjoyment of working with young children.
Support children with their learning and development by thinking on your feet and planning in the moment.
Experience using online nursery software
Passion for early years childhood education
Have a love of sharing stories
Happy to work outdoors in all weathers
Ability to work in a flexible manner
An excellent communicator who can relate well to both children and adults
A willingness and ability to undertake professional development as appropriate
Knowledgeable regarding Safeguarding, EYFS and OFSTED requirements.
OFSTED recognised Level 2 or above qualification in Early Years (Essential)
Paediatric First Aid (Desirable)
Experience of working within the Early Years environment (Desirable)
Experience of working with SEND children (Desirable)
Current knowledge of the foundation stage curriculum and relevant legislation and guidance

Qualifications required

Essential - Early Years and Childcare Level 2 Qualification

Future prospects

There is no guarantee that you will automatically be offered employment with Woodlanders on competition of your qualification
Woodlanders are committed to supporting our apprentices and you will be kept informed throughout in the form of supervisions
We always hope to gain long term employees from the apprenticeship route, however the needs of the business will dictate the need for permanent recruitment at that time.

Woodlanders Pre-School provides early years care and education to children in Ashburton and the surrounding areas. We are an independent registered charity, rooted in the community and run by a team of dedicated staff who are passionate about early years education and supporting the needs of local families. Woodlanders was established in 1999 and has seen many families and children in the community benefit from the services we provide.
