As Community Activator Coach, alongside gaining your Community Activator Coach L2 qualification, your role and responsibilities will include:
● To help officiate and administer a variety of sports events, particularly those involving primary aged school teams and children
● To take positive steps to identify and overcome barriers to participation amongst people from disadvantaged backgrounds, as part of addressing issues of access and inclusion.
● To extend sports participation and competition in schools and promote increased linkage with sports clubs to ensure that more young people stay in the sport on a long-term basis.
● To effectively work with lead coaches and as part of coaching teams
● To support and guide young volunteers and sports leaders where appropriate.
● To be committed to the training requirements of the apprenticeship offered through the Coach Core process and those, such as coach awards, in support of the company’s business objectives.
● To undertake administrative duties appropriate to the role such as taking registers
● To follow the guidelines and principles of the Company’s policies and procedures.
● To carry out such other duties that may reasonably be required by the Managing Director.
Desired Skills
• Demonstrable interest and experience of personal sports participation • Basic experience of sports coaching and leadership • A work experience record evidencing motivation to commit and an ability to professionally relate to colleagues and customers on a regular basis
Personal qualities
● Ability to inspire, motivate and encourage people, especially children, through sport.
● Ability to adapt sessions appropriately according to the needs of people of different motivations and abilities.
● Time management skills and commitment
● Competent IT user able to learn and use different systems and packages.
● Good basic written and oral communication skills
Qualifications required
● Academic/vocational study qualifications relating to sport, physical activity, PE, fitness or similar
● A first level sports leadership, officiating or coaching award qualification
Future prospects
Whilst continuity beyond the apprenticeship contract cannot be guaranteed, for candidates that demonstrate high levels of commitment and aptitude the prospect of an ongoing and salary enhanced role being created for the longer term are good.
