CCYS is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Apprentice Sports Coach aged 18–24 to join our team.
This is an exciting opportunity to develop practical coaching and youth work skills while gaining valuable experience working with children and young people aged 8–16.
Working 30 hours per week, the successful candidate will support the planning and delivery of our junior and senior youth sessions, helping to create a safe, positive and enjoyable environment where young people can participate in sport, develop new skills and build their confidence.
Day-to-day responsibilities will include assisting with sports coaching sessions and activities, preparing equipment and facilities, encouraging young people to participate and supporting individuals who may need additional encouragement or guidance.
The apprentice will also develop their mentoring skills by building positive relationships with young people, acting as a positive role model and supporting their personal, social and physical development.
Alongside sports coaching, the role will involve supporting other CCYS youth sessions, activities and events. The apprentice will work closely with experienced staff and volunteers and will gradually take on greater responsibility as their skills and confidence develop.
There will also be an administrative element to the position, including helping to maintain attendance records, completing session paperwork, communicating information to colleagues, supporting activity planning and carrying out other general administrative duties associated with the delivery of CCYS programmes.
The successful candidate will be expected to follow CCYS policies and procedures, including safeguarding, health and safety and equality and inclusion requirements, and contribute positively to the wider work of the organisation
You will also be working towards your Community Activator Coach L2 qualification across the duration of around 15 months.
