A - Z of mental health: C

Mental health problems affect around one in six children. They include depression, anxiety and conduct disorder (a type of behavioural problem) and are often a direct response to what is happening in their lives.

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) can help you understand how your thoughts and actions affect how you feel.

Anyone can experience a mental health crisis. In a crisis, you may feel like you can’t carry on. You may be at risk of hurting yourself or trying to take your own life. It’s vital to get help immediately.

DID YOU KNOW?

Bodhi Day

Bodhi Day is a Buddhist holiday, commemorating the day that Gautama Buddha experienced enlightenment. Gautama Buddha was the founder of Buddhism and is also known simply as Buddha. He was born a wealthy prince, with the name Siddhattha Gotama, over 2,500 years ago in India. At the age of 29, outside the luxury of his palace, he saw people suffering, and decided to live as a holy man. He travelled widely and sought answers. Then, one day, sitting meditating beneath the Bodhi tree, he achieved enlightenment. He became the Buddha and spent the next 45 years teaching others how to grow spiritually and attain enlightenment.
