The Learning and Development Support Scheme for adult care providers

The Learning and Development Support Scheme is a fantastic opportunity for adult social care providers in England to invest in their workforce.

How does it work?

This direct funding support from the Department for Health and Social Care supports you to develop your non-regulated workforce, including deputy and registered managers, as well as agency colleagues.

With our accredited qualifications, you get 60% of the cost reimbursed when the individual starts, and the other 40% when they complete. Funding is limited though, so get started today to avoid missing out!

What courses and qualifications are eligible for Learning and Development Support Scheme funding

Our comprehensive range of accredited qualifications, designed specifically for the adult social care sector, align perfectly with the Learning and Development Support Scheme funding criteria, including the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate and the Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care.

Out with the Workforce Development Fund, in with the Learning and Development Support Scheme

Although the Workforce Development Fund can still be used to fund courses and qualifications for now, funding was scaled back significantly in April 2024, and it’s only eligible for qualifications that will complete before 31 March 2025.

What’s the difference between the Learning and Development Support Scheme and adult care apprenticeships?

Adult care apprenticeships still remain a vital part of the learning and development strategy for adult care providers; they offer a highly effective route to develop competency across all stages of care provision, from entry level care through the Level 2 Adult Care Worker apprenticeship, through to expert adult care leadership through the Level 5 Leader in Adult Care apprenticeship, our apprenticeships help you develop standardised competency for your workforce.

This funding is a great bolt-on for those not suitable for an apprenticeship; for example, those who are unable to achieve their functional skills qualifications, those that don’t meet the UK residency status requirements of an apprenticeship, and those who don’t have enough time to commit to the off-the-job requirements of at least 6 hours of time dedicated to learning per week.
