Our Board of Directors
Jon Graham - Chief Executive Officer

Jon Graham joined Lifetime as CEO in June 2022, bringing with him a vast wealth of experience across the professional and vocational training sector. Prior to joining Lifetime, Jon was Chief Executive at JTL, a large national training provider, for over 7 years, and Managing Director of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA).

Jon is a champion of how vocational training, and particularly apprenticeships, can unlock potential for people and business. He holds two NED roles at the Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP) and the Education and Training Foundation (ETF). He previously sat on the Skills Funding Agency (now ESFA) advisory board, as well as their audit and risk committee for six years.

Geoff Russell – Chairman

Geoff was until recently the Chairman of JTL, one of the largest apprenticeship training companies in the UK. He was also the final CEO of the Learning and Skills Council and the founding CEO of the Skills Funding Agency, predecessor organisations to the Education and Skills Funding Agency.

Geoff sits on the boards of two banks and various other companies. Prior to retirement from full time work, he was a partner at KPMG, where he spent some 26 years. He has a passion for further education and is delighted to be leading the Board at Lifetime, a key provider in the sector with people who share the passion for changing peoples’ lives.

Carl Cornish - Chief Operating Officer

Carl joined lifetime in 2019 as Chief Operating Officer having previously worked for M&S as Head of Commercial Operations. He brings with him over 20 years’ experience of working in the leisure, hospitality and retail industries, where his vast understanding of operational effectiveness will be hugely beneficial to both Lifetime and client partners.

Having been a customer and advocate of apprenticeships for many years, he is well positioned to oversee and deliver a great client and learner experience.

Angela Maguire-Lewis - Quality Director

Angela has extensive knowledge of Work Based Learning having worked in the sector for 25 years within Operations and Quality, and most recently worked as Head of Apprenticeships for Cardiff and Vale College.

Prior to her time at Cardiff and Vale College, Angela was Operations Manager for Babcock International Group.

Angela has in-depth experience and knowledge of the design, delivery and evaluation of apprenticeships across the UK and has represented Work Based Learning providers in her former role as Board Member of NTFW and as a member of external stakeholder meetings for post 16 education and skills in Wales. Angela remains a Board Member for Qualifications Wales.

Daniel Ball - Funding and Compliance Director

Daniel has extensive experience in overseeing compliance functions within Apprenticeships and FE having worked within the sector for over 10 years. In his remit, Daniel is responsible for driving funding compliance across all funded provision and ensuring Lifetime’s policies, procedures and working practices meet the requirements of funding regulators across the UK.

Daniel holds a BA Hons Degree in Criminology from Leicester University, joining Lifetime in 2010.

Marie Vickery - Business Development Director

Marie joined Lifetime in December 2011, following 10 years in Private Sector insurance and medical companies, specialising in customer service.

Lifetime brought Marie on board to grow the client base across all sectors. Marie’s outstanding success in achieving this, along with her relentless and infectious positive energy has helped her progress from Business Development Manager, to now running the Business Development, Marketing and Partnership Launch Teams, as well as earning her a place in the Executive Team. 

Along with her own personal progression, Marie has been instrumental in the development of her teams, and in securing apprenticeship contracts with some of the country's biggest and best-loved brands.

Mark Denton - IT & Projects Director

Mark joined Lifetime in October 2012 as Head of Project Office responsible for the management, governance and delivery of strategic IT & Business projects. In October 2013 Mark joined the Exec team to lead the IT and Projects teams. Immediately prior to joining Lifetime Mark set up a small local fitness business following 10 years at EE and Orange.

Mark was a Senior Manager for 10 years specialising in the delivery of business technology projects and programmes in telecoms. Mark’s worked for organisations spanning technology, telecoms, ecommerce and online information focussing on delivering business change in line with commercial priorities. Mark has a 2:1 degree in International Relations from Keele University.

Matthew Robinson - Commercial Director

Matt joined Lifetime in 2007, after a successful career in the fitness industry as a Personal Trainer, Writer and Sports Therapist. Joining Lifetime as a trainer, Matt progressed within Operations and has played a key part in taking Lifetime to its market-leading position.

In 2018 Matt moved into the role of Partnership Director after achieving significant growth through winning and delivering successful apprenticeship programmes for large national employers. In 2022 he became Commercial Director and now his focus is on driving partnership strategy across the Partnership, Enrolment and Apprenticeship Recruitment teams allowing him to manage the end-to-end journey, enhancing the learner experience for learners and employers.

Tessa James - HR Director

Tessa joined Lifetime in 2014, bringing with her an extensive, generalist HR experience from having been working within the HR industry for over 10 years. Over her career, Tessa has held a number of HR roles within a variety of companies such as Rocco Forte, De Vere and Intercontinental Hotels Group.

In her remit, Tessa is responsible for driving the people agenda, and is passionate about the value people bring to an organisation.

Tessa holds an LLB in Law from Cardiff University and an MSc in Human Resources Management from University of South Wales.
