Commitment to achieving Net Zero

Lifetime Training Group Ltd is committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2050.

Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Baseline Year: 2020*

*reporting period being the 12 months to 31 July 2020 in line with audited financial statements and the corporate reporting of emissions for that period

Additional Details relating to the Baseline Emissions calculations.

The Baseline year saw the impact of COVID on business operations in part and this essentially reduced the true annualised value of the intensity ratio (per activity / employee) of emissions, although it did continue to impact to a great degree the most recent reporting year.
Scope 3 emissions reporting in the baseline year is limited to that associated with business travel undertaken by employees in their own vehicles which is reimbursed by the company. In future years we will look to expand the inclusion of other relevant scope 3 sources and reassess the baseline and plan to drive to Net Zero emissions.

Emissions reduction targets

In order to continue our progress to achieving Net Zero, we have adopted the following carbon reduction targets.

We project that carbon emissions will decrease over the next five years to 1,205 tCO2e by 2026. This is a reduction of 20% from the baseline year; reference is made to the baseline year as the most recent year has seen an abnormal lower level due to the travel restrictions associated with COVID.

Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph.

Carbon Reduction Projects

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

The following environmental management measures and projects have been completed or implemented since the 2020 baseline. The carbon emission reduction achieved by these schemes equate to 1,306 tCO2e, a 87%ge reduction against the 2020 baseline and the measures will be in effect when performing the contract. The volume of the impacts have been accentuated in the most recent year due to the impact of lockdown associated with COVID which has seen business travel, the largest contributor to our emissions, reduce to below normalised levels, and there will be some future increases

  • Introduction of a new software application that underpins the interaction we have with our customers, allowing more remote based delivery as opposed to delivery that requires significant travel to conduct face-to-face interactions
  • The introduction of a virtual meeting platform to ensure meetings can be conducted without the need for significant business travel
  • The transition of our IT infrastructure to a fully cloud based solution as opposed to the historical on-premise server infrastructure; cloud solutions are more energy efficient and significantly reduce electricity consumption to both power and cool the IT environment
  • The adoption of a great degree of home-working for teams, thus reducing emissions driven by commuting
  •  In addition, the reported emissions level reported has been offset through investment in an East Africa Borehole project which enhances energy efficiency.

In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:

  • Replacement of our diesel powered fleet vehicles with fully electric vehicles
  • The introduction of a Salary Sacrifice Electric Vehicle scheme to support all employees to access electric vehicles in a more cost effective manner and hence supporting all team members to reduce their own emissions levels.
