Apprenticeships are delivered across the Devolved Nations, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. (You can find out more about apprenticeship funding in England here).
Each nation has different apprenticeship programme design and eligibility for funding around the amount of funding providers can draw down to support employers. Learner eligibility, programme delivery, and the arrangements for external quality assurance and inspection are also different. The English Apprenticeship standards are not approved for funding in the devolved nations.
The Devolved Nations deliver apprenticeship frameworks as opposed to apprenticeship standards (which are the programmes used in England).
Lifetime can support employers navigate the funding rules and opportunities in each of the Devolved Nations.
- In Scotland, we hold our own Skills Development Scotland (SDS) contract, so can deliver in line with the funding rules and our allocated funds.
- In Wales we work with a partner called Cambrian Training Company (CTC), who hold a funding contract that our partners can access.
- In Northern Ireland we work with Belfast Met, who hold a funding contract our partners can access.
