Defiant Sports - Eastbourne
You will assist our coaching team in the delivery of fully accessible and inclusive sports provision and social groups; helping to remove barriers to participation. These sessions will have a primary audience of people with disabilities.

When not assisting in the planning, prepping and running of sessions, you’ll be working with our administrative team on various computer-based tasks, cleaning and general hub upkeep and maintenance.

Coach Core’s vision is to drive social mobility through apprenticeships and sport, so that every young person can reach their true potential and inspire those around them. Since our launch in 2012, we have worked with over 150 of the biggest sports providers, youth clubs and charities in the country, supporting over 500 young people.

The Community Activator Coach role is the perfect opportunity to understand the role of sport and physical activity in the Community, and as a coach with Defiant Sports you will be helping to run fully accessible and inclusive sports sessions, social sessions, events, fun days, bespoke sessions and more. Our primary audience consists of those with disabilities of all ages. This will be the primary focus of the position.

In between sessions, you will work on cleaning and general upkeep of our venue. On top of this, you will assist our administrative team with tasks such as research, organisation, graphic design, writing reports and more.

What your apprenticeship includes:
-A mixture of face to face and online catch ups every 4 - 6 weeks to discuss feedback and progress
-A mixture of on and off the job training, including workshops and webinars
-Reviews every 12 weeks with your Line Manager and apprenticeship Trainer
-The chance to get Functional Skills in English and maths (if you don’t already have GCSE)

Desired Skills

This is an apprenticeship programme, designed to help you gain skills and experience ‘on the job.’ We aren’t looking for any previous coaching qualifications or experience but certain personal qualities and characteristics are a must. - Experience with Sport. - Experience in a customer-facing role. - Ability to pass an enhanced DBS check. - Flexibility of working hours – covering staff and supporting fun days/events. Successful applicants will be assisting and delivering sport and physical activity sessions in the community. Your sessions may be the highlight of their week- so you will need to be reliable, enthusiastic, energetic and committed!

No prior coaching experience is required, but a willingness to learn, work hard and challenge yourself is essential.

Qualifications required

Missed out on getting your Maths and English GCSE’s? Don’t worry- you can still apply but you will need to complete Functional Skills Level 2 before you finish the apprenticeship. Our Learning Coaches can support you with this so don’t let this put you off!

Training to be delivered

Community Activator Coach Apprenticeship L2 including Functional Skills in Maths and English

You will be on a Community Activator Coach apprenticeship, which allows you to get a qualification and get paid to do it! Your qualification will be delivered by Lifetime Training, but you will be part of the Coach Core family- giving you access to loads of extra perks, including kit, training from partners such as UK Coaching and the chance to coach at local/regional sporting events.
