To assist and learn from the chefs to prepare the food as per the menu, maintaining the quality with minimal wastage. Using a clean as you work philosophy, so the kitchen is compliant with Health and Safety regulations.

Ferma Bistro is a cosy, unique bistro set in the heart of Ripley, serving contemporary British small sharing plates using all local & sustainably sourced produce from our farm shop right next door.

Ferma are looking for an enthusiastic Apprentice Commis Chef to join the team.

Some experience as a Kitchen Porter or equivalent would be an advantage, but no previous experience is required. However, the suitable candidate must be passionate about food and eager to begin a career in the hospitality and catering industry.

As an Apprentice Commis Chef you will be:

Assisting in the food preparation process
Cooking and preparing elements of high quality dishes
Preparing vegetables, meats and fish
Assisting other Chefs
Helping with deliveries and restocking
Assisting with stock rotation Cleaning stations
Contributing to maintaining kitchen and food safety standards

At Ferma Farm Shop & Bistro, you will be working towards your Production Chef Level 2 Apprenticeship Qualification over the course of 12-18 months. You will be fully supported by both your Manager and Learning Coach, and be given all the help and guidance you need to begin building a rewarding career for yourself in the hospitality and catering industry.

What your apprenticeship includes:

A blend of virtual and in person meetings with your Learning Coach every 4-6 weeks.
A hands on, practical approach to learning to ensure you are able to achieve your goals.
On the job and off the job training.
Functional skills in Maths and English (if you haven't already achieved your GCSEs)
