Coach Core’s vision is to drive social mobility through apprenticeships and sport, so that every young person can reach their true potential and inspire those around them. Since our launch in 2012, we have worked with over 150 of the biggest sports providers, youth clubs and charities in the country, supporting over 500 young people.
The Community Activator Coach role is the perfect opportunity to understand the role of sport and physical activity in the Community, and as an apprentice coach at Youth Moves, you will be working In open access youth clubs, schools and detached settings to use your skills as a sports coach and assist in the provision of a fun, balanced and inclusive programme of personal and social education opportunities that meets the needs of young people.
Key Job Outcomes
· To promote and encourage the participation of young people by establishing contact and giving support
· To promote equal opportunities in the provision of the youth service and take positive steps to counter discrimination.
· To assist the team in planning, delivering and evaluating the youth work programme, so that it achieves agreed outcomes.
· To provide practical assistance to the Youth Worker in charge/ Senior Youth Worker by contributing to the planning and delivery of a programme of activities that generates interest among the target group
What your apprenticeship includes:
● A mixture of face to face and online catch ups every 4 - 6 weeks to discuss feedback and progress
● A mixture of on and off the job training, including workshops and webinars
● Reviews every 12 weeks with your Line Manager and apprenticeship Trainer
● The chance to get Functional Skills in English and maths (if you don’t already have GCSE)

You will work towards your Community Activator Coach Level 2 qualification over the course of 12-18 months
Desired Skills
This is an apprenticeship programme, designed to help you gain skills and experience ‘on the job.’ We aren’t looking for any previous coaching qualifications or experience but certain personal qualities and characteristics are a must (see below) Successful applicants will be assisting and delivering sport and physical activity sessions in the community. Your sessions may be the highlight of their week- so you will need to be reliable, enthusiastic, energetic and committed! A passion for using sport to see young reach their full potential. Good communication skills. Basic understanding of using a computer to plan sessions, keep records and complete evaluations. Be willing to learn on the job and think creatively about how to use your skills and interests to engage young people.

You must be enthusiastic about wanting to work within the sport and physical activity sector and be committed to inspiring others to be more physically active. No prior coaching experience is required, but a willingness to learn, develop and challenge yourself is essential.

Missed out on getting your Maths and English GCSE’s? Don’t worry- you can still apply but you will need to complete Functional Skills Level 2 before you finish the apprenticeship. Our Learning Coaches can support you with this so don’t let this put you off!
Future prospects
Youth Moves has a history of their Coach Core apprentices moving into fulltime employment upon the completion of the apprenticeship.
