This will be an entry level position in a professional kitchen. The candidate will be required to work under the supervision of the senior chef assisting in the day-to-day operation, this will include: food preparation, basic cooking and food service, hygiene management and stock control.
In this role the candidate will learn a complete range of culinary fundamentals, while developing in areas such as time management, teamwork, stamina and attention to detail which are key to working in a kitchen.
The hospitality industry requires that staff be available to work 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. As such candidates should have the expectation that they will have to work at weekends, on bank holidays and at Christmas.
As a Commis Chef Apprentice at The Horse & Hound, you will be working towards the Commis Chef Level 2 Apprenticeship, over the duration of 15 months, alongside your daily roles and responsiblities.
Desired Skills
Basic cookery skills would be preferred but are not essential.
Personal qualities
The ideal candidate would be calm under pressure and conscientious in their work, with an eye for detail. They must be open minded and willing to learn.
Qualifications required
GCSE Level 4/C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
Future prospects
We are hoping to grow talent within the company, so any candidate that successfully completes their apprenticeship with us can feel secure that their is career progression for them, with the possibility of further study being available.
