As our Apprentice Community Development Officer, you will help drive the growth of a strong, diverse, and skilled wheelchair basketball workforce, while also supporting the expansion of our school-based programmes. Working closely with Development Officers and national partners, you will work to reduce barriers to participation, promoting wheelchair basketball as a way of engaging people in physical activity.
Within the role you will:
Workforce Recruitment & Training
● Support the promotion and delivery of workforce development initiatives, including coach, leader, and official education.
● Recruit and train Community Officials and Activators, supporting them to progress in the sport
● Support the recruitment and training of young officials, particularly in the University Sector
● Help coordinate training opportunities, workshops, and events.
Schools Development
● Support the roll-out of wheelchair basketball resources to schools and colleges
● Promote the inclusion of wheelchair basketball in school competitions, festivals, and engagement days.
● Help develop resources and communication tools for teachers and school partners.
● Collect feedback and insights to help strengthen school participation pathways.
Monitoring and Evaluation
● Work with delivery partners to check in on funded activities, offering support to ensure high quality delivery
● Ensure accurate, regular reporting on funded activities at key points in the year
General
● Support the smooth running of the sport, providing administration on projects and events
● Support event and training delivery
● Maintain a keen interest in self-learning
● Participate in team meetings and training
