Coach Core’s vision is to drive social mobility through apprenticeships and sport, so that every young person can reach their true potential and inspire those around them. Since our launch in 2012, we have worked with over 150 of the biggest sports providers, youth clubs and charities in the country, supporting over 500 young people.
The Community Activator Coach role is the perfect opportunity to understand the role of sport and physical activity in the community, and Solihull Moors are offering a great opportunity to learn across different enviroments, sports and age-groups.
Role and responsibilities
-Organising and delivering community schools activity sessions to raise awareness of company and services we offer
-· Planning and delivering ‘active’ after school clubs.
-· Co-ordinating club events
-· Planning and delivering holiday camp activities
-· Support project staff to prepare for sessions and deliver the programme’s activities
- Support project staff in monitoring and evaluating the success of the projects activities
-· Adhere to employers and placement organisations Health and Safety, Child Protection and Equalities policies
-· Complete various training courses
-· Attend all work based sessions, meetings and training courses on time
- Adhere to their placement organisations policies around presentation, dress code and representing the organisation externally
PERSON SPECIFICATION
· Passionate about Sport, physical and creative activities
· Desire to work in sports coaching and activity leadership
· Ability to lead a club on their own
· An understanding of activities and young people
· Self-motivated to learn and improve
· Good communication skills and ability to relate to other people
· Ability to engage young people positively
· To be able to adapt to different challenges in a positive way
· Willingness to travel to and from sessions on a daily basis
· Reasonable level of personal fitness
What your apprenticeship includes:
● A mixture of face to face and online catch ups every 4 - 6 weeks to discuss feedback and progress
● A mixture of on and off the job training, including workshops and webinars
● Reviews every 12 weeks with your Line Manager and apprenticeship Trainer
● The chance to get Functional Skills in English and maths (if you don’t already have GCSE)
At Solihull Moors you will work towards your Community Activator Coach L2 Apprenticeship Qualification over the course of 12-18 Months.
Desired Skills
This is an apprenticeship programme, designed to help you gain skills and experience ‘on the job.’ We aren’t looking for any previous coaching qualifications or experience but certain personal qualities and characteristics are a must (see below). Successful applicants will be assisting and delivering sport and physical activity sessions in the community. Your sessions may be the highlight of their week- so you will need to be reliable, enthusiastic, energetic and committed! You will be able communicate with a variety of age groups and abilities. To be able think independently and plan activities.
Personal qualities
We are looking for a focused person who is able to work both independently and as part of a team. You will be hard working conscientious, friendly and display a willing to learn.
Qualifications required
Missed out on getting your Maths and English GCSE’s? Don’t worry- you can still apply but you will need to complete Functional Skills Level 2 before you finish the apprenticeship. Our Learning Coaches can support you with this so don’t let this put you off!
Future prospects
We would look to offer level 4 qualifications or potential full time employment once studies have been completed.
