To plan and deliver safe, enjoyable coaching sessions for groups that are structured and progressive and contribute to the overall Hat-Trick mission of maximising the potential of young people regardless of ability or background.

Coach Core’s vision is to drive social mobility through apprenticeships and sport, so that every young person can reach their true potential and inspire those around them. Since our launch in 2012, we have worked with over 150 of the biggest sports providers, youth clubs and charities in the country, supporting over 500 young people.

The Community Activator Coach role is the perfect opportunity to understand the role of sport and physical activity in the Community, and as an apprentice coach at Hat-Trick, you will support young people to reach their full potential by providing opportunities to participate in positive activities that offer training, qualifications & leadership.

Your main duties will be:

1. To lead after school clubs, curriculum time, community sessions and holiday courses.
2. To work daytimes, evenings, weekends and school holidays.
3. Create an environment that progresses self-esteem and confidence, whilst keeping it free from bullying or disrespect for others
4. Encourage role models from local communities who can become coaches and leaders on the programme.
5. To ensure the required health, safety, welfare and supervision of participants throughout the session including child protection policies are carried out.
6. To carry out appropriate checks on equipment, venues and facilities.
7. To carry out all monitoring and evaluation required.
8. Be committed to issues of equal opportunity and diversity and be able to incorporate these in your everyday work.
9. To ensure high standards of customer care and a quality service at all times.
10. To administer the necessary procedures for any incident or accident that occurs to any participant under supervision.
11. To undertake any necessary training.

What your apprenticeship includes:
A mixture of face to face and online catch ups every 4 - 6 weeks to discuss feedback and progress
A mixture of on and off the job training, including workshops and webinars
Reviews every 12 weeks with your Line Manager and apprenticeship Trainer
The chance to get Functional Skills in English and maths (if you don’t already have GCSE)

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. This position will involve contact with young and consequently, the post-holder will be obliged to demonstrate and maintain their suitability to work with young people. This will include a requirement to undertake an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check.

Desired Skills

-Ability to organise, plan and deliver sporting activities and to evaluate every session -Good communication skills -Full UK Driving License or must be able to travel by other means of transport

Personal qualities

You must be enthusiastic about wanting to work within the sport and physical activity sector and be committed to inspiring others to be more physically active. You will need to have:

-Ability to engage with young people from all backgrounds.
-Knowledge of safety requirements and child protection issues

Qualifications required

Emergency Aid Qualified
Minimum of 3 months experience coaching young people in a sports/activity setting
Full UK Driving License or must be able to travel by other means of transport

Desirable:
Qualified to Level 1 or higher NGB awards

Founded in 2005 through a partnership between The FA and UEFA Hat-Trick delivers around 70 sessions each week to people in Newcastle upon Tyne and now in Gateshead.

We support the young people to reach their full potential by providing opportunities to participate in positive activities that offer training, qualifications & leadership. We work across the city of Newcastle and borough of Gateshead in areas of high deprivation, the top 10 percent of most deprived neighbourhoods across the country.
