Essex Cricket In The Community
We are looking for someone keen to get into coaching within a community cricket environment. The role will involve assisting and coaching at our community and schools projects

Coach Core’s vision is to drive social mobility through apprenticeships and sport, so that every young person can reach their true potential and inspire those around them. Since our launch in 2012, we have worked with over 150 of the biggest sports providers, youth clubs and charities in the country, supporting over 500 young people. As a result of our ongoing expansion, we are now looking to launch a brand-new programme in Essex!

Day to day responsibilities:

Assist and coach at sessions run by ECiC
Develop positive relationships participants at sessions
Help plan and promote sessions and programmes withing ECiC
Establish, maintain and develop effective partnership working with stakeholders including relevant external agencies and organisations
Complete monitoring, evaluation and session recordings using internal and external systems.
Attend all scheduled supervision, meetings and training events.
Undertake professional development by participating in staff development (CPD) and training activities.
Any other duties as reasonably requested by the line manager / organisation.

The role will involve a certain amount of travel as the sessions can be anywhere in Essex. Where possible we will try to keep them local to the applicant. Travel costs will be reimbursed. access to own travel would make this a lot easier

We particularly welcome applicants from female, black, minority, ethnic (BME) communities, disabled people and homosexual, bisexual and trans (LGBT) communities, as they are currently underrepresented within our workforce.

The apprenticeship will enable successful candidates to start an unrivalled 15-month programme of learning, gaining meaningful qualifications and have full support and mentoring based on your individual needs. Successful applicants will be offered full time employment with a recognised physical activity or sports-based employer, earning a wage whilst also working towards the Level 2 Community Activator Coach qualification as well as a whole host of additional learning opportunities. In addition, whilst employed directly by one organisation, there will also be access to a range of events, training opportunities and other experiences through the other supportive employers.

Desired Skills

This is an apprenticeship programme, designed to help you gain skills and experience on the job/ We are not looking for any previous coaching qualifications or experience but certain personal qualities and characteristics are a must (see below) Successful applicants will be assisting and delivering sport and physical activity sessions in the community. Your sessions may be the highlight of their week- so you will need to be reliable, enthusiastic, energetic and committed

Personal qualities

You must be enthusiastic about wanting to work within the sport and physical activity sector and be committed to inspiring others to be more physically active.

No prior coaching experience is required, but a willingness to learn, work hard and challenge yourself is essential

Qualifications required

Missed out on getting your Maths and English GCSes? Don't worry- you can still apply but you will need to complete Functional Skills Level 2 before you finish the apprenticeship. Our Learning Coaches can support you with this so don't let this put you off

Future prospects

This programme may lead to possible progression into full and part time coaching roles, further qualifications, Level 3 apprenticeships and employment in other sectors (for example youth work or leisure)

Several apprentices have gone into cricket coaching and 1 into teaching as a result of the apprenticeship

Essex Cricket in the Community (ECiC) is the community side of Essex cricket. We aim to provide cricket throughout Essex in as wide a variety and range as possible to allowing everyone who wishes to the chance to take part in the game. We look after clubs, schools, social cricket, disability and many other versions and formats of the game.
We are looking for an apprentice to deliver our community based activities with a focus on our school and street cricket programmes supported by chance to shine.
