What’s the new adult social care certificate all about?

Based on the Care Certificate Standards which adult care employees are already expected to complete during their induction period, the new Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate enhances this to become a consistent approach that’s transferrable and reliable.

  • Standardises competency: ensures your care workers meet a consistent level of professionalism.
  • Enhances career progression: provides a strong foundation for further learning and development.
  • Improves quality of care: helps your team deliver more effective and compassionate care.

The adult social care certificate goes further than the Care Certificate standards

  • It’s a formal qualification accredited by Ofqual, which means that it is a nationally recognised qualification. This can be helpful for care workers who are looking to progress in their careers.
  • It’s more comprehensive, covering a wider range of topics than the Care Certificate Standards, developing a more comprehensive understanding of the skills and knowledge carers need to deliver high-quality care.
  • It’s more rigorously assessed through a combination of assignments and assessments, developing a high level of competence.
  • It’s more transferable as a nationally recognised qualification.

What does the Level 2 Adult Social Care Certificate cover?

  • Person-centred care: understanding individual needs and preferences.
  • Safeguarding and safeguarding adults: protecting vulnerable individuals from harm.
  • Understanding the agreed ways of working in regard to medication and healthcare tasks
  • Communication and interpersonal skills: building effective relationships with service users, families, and colleagues.
  • Mental health awareness: recognising and responding to mental health needs.
